Diogo & the hard cases
The dogs that taught us the most.
CityDog is Diogo and his family. They started in Várzea de Sintra and moved to a bigger country property in São João das Lampas, on the road to Mafra — and the clients came along, some from Cascais and Lisbon.
Diogo has trained and looked after dogs for many years. He is proudest of the difficult ones: the anxious, the tiny, the rescued, the ones who arrive afraid of everything.
Three who marked the door frame
- Vega
Small, very anxious, her first long stay. She stayed inside the house with us the whole time — one of the dogs that tested us most, and made us happiest.
- Juma
A rescue full of fears and trauma. Here she blossomed and learned to socialise with other dogs.
- The shy one
Timid and fearful on day one. After a single week, a much more confident dog.
Getting here
Far from home, and still worth the drive.
We are in São João das Lampas, Sintra, at the entrance to Mafra. Clients come from Cascais and Lisbon — for years.

I left my dog at CityDog while I was on holiday and couldn't have been happier. She was just over a year old, it was her first time away for so long, and being a very anxious, tiny dog, they made sure she was always with them inside the house. I got updates at least twice a day and she was always calm with them and the children!
